Our Story
Through trials and tribulations that included an enlightening period working out of a motorhome as an insurance professional, Marty Guzman learned the ins and outs of the financial industry. All the miles he traveled made him appreciate the roots and values treasured by Americans. By 2001, he had ample inspiration to establish his own practice: Independent Wealth Management & Insurance Services.

Marty has experience in helping retirees and pre-retirees plan for the most important and exciting time of their lives: retirement. Since 1994, Marty has provided practical, personalized guidance based on good judgment and conservative financial principles.
Marty’s strategies are designed to help you work toward your financial independence. This includes helping protect a portion of your assets from market volatility, increasing retirement income and addressing the costs of long-term care, including nursing home costs. His approach utilizes a number of insurance and investment products to help you pursue your financial goals.
Marty is an Investment Adviser Representative, has passed his Series 65 securities exam, and is a licensed insurance professional in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Missouri, Texas and Washington, as well as several other states. Marty is also a member of the National Institute of Certified Estate Planners (NICEP). He is committed to working hard to earn your trust and make sure you’re comfortable every step of the way.
Marty is married to his beautiful wife, Kedrin, and together, they have three sons: Lincoln, Baylor and Brody.
Reini Elias Partner, Vice President and Licensed Insurance Professional
For nearly two decades, Reini Elias has been the heart and soul of Independent Wealth Management. As Partner and Vice President, she brings a people-first approach to retirement income, helping clients feel informed, confident, and cared for every step of the way
Reini’s journey in the industry began with helping policyholders understand their benefits and negotiating physician contracts - experiences that honed her ability to make complex topics clear and approachable. In 2006, she joined Marty Guzman to help grow a firm built on a shared mission: changing lives through thoughtful planning and genuine relationships.
Today, Reini continues to guide clients through important financial decisions and plays an active role in the firm’s educational workshops, empowering individuals and families to plan for their futures with confidence.
Originally from Michigan, Reini has called Peoria home for nearly 40 years. She’s married to her first boyfriend, David, and they share three adult children - Jordyn, Edwin, and Reese - along with one granddaughter, Tinley, and twin grandsons on the way. Outside of work, she enjoys golfing, spending time in her home’s wine room, and tending to her beloved cacti, which she loves gifting to friends and clients. Reini also channels her creative side as the owner of Northpointe Candle Co., where she crafts hand-poured candles that bring warmth to any space.
Tim Cone Licensed Insurance Professional
Tim Cone brings a steady, thoughtful presence to Independent Wealth Management, helping families make sense of retirement income and legacy strategies with clarity and confidence.
With a background in accounting and more than 20 years in mergers and acquisitions, Tim approaches planning with patience, perspective, and a focus on long-term relationships. Licensed in life and health insurance in Arizona, he’s passionate about breaking down complex decisions into practical, actionable steps that give clients peace of mind about their future.
Drawn to the firm’s people-first culture - and a longtime friend of founder Marty Guzman - Tim joined the team to continue doing what he values most: helping people navigate life’s big decisions with confidence and care.
Originally from Michigan, Tim has spent most of his life in Arizona with his wife, Jenny, and their five daughters: Maddison, Lauren, Kaiden, Kennedy, and Karsten. When he’s not meeting with clients, you’ll find him outdoors, often with Millie, his loyal bird dog, on upland hunting trips - or on the golf course or a fly-fishing stream, enjoying Arizona’s natural beauty

As Director of Operations, Amber Choongphol keeps Independent Wealth Management running with purpose and precision. She blends big-picture strategy with day-to-day leadership, ensuring the firm delivers an experience that’s seamless, thoughtful, and deeply aligned with its values.
Amber’s career began in administration, but her desire to make a meaningful difference led her deeper into financial services and to earning her Arizona Life Insurance License. Today, she oversees the firm’s internal operations, optimizing workflows, managing business initiatives, and ensuring that both clients and advisors have the support they need to succeed.
A natural leader, Amber is known for her ability to unite people around a shared vision and bring out the best in those around her. She builds strong, collaborative teams and empowers others to take ownership of their roles - creating an environment where innovation thrives and client service consistently exceeds expectations. Her leadership extends beyond operations, shaping company culture and driving initiatives that support growth, efficiency, and long-term success.
Known for her creative problem-solving and hands-on approach, Amber is passionate about enhancing the client journey - from building efficient processes to creating events that celebrate milestones and strengthen relationships.
Outside of work, Amber is a devoted wife and mom. She and her husband, Brian, are raising three children - Bella, Miles, and Cade - and she embraces the joy and adventure of family life with the same energy she brings to her work.

Reese Reyes is the behind-the-scenes force who keeps everything moving. As Executive Assistant and Transfer Specialist, she supports the firm’s leadership team and helps clients navigate the details of their accounts with care and confidence.
Working closely with the Founder, Reese manages schedules, prepares meeting materials, and anticipates needs before they arise, ensuring the team stays organized and focused. On the client side, she assists with account transfers and service requests, guiding each process with professionalism and attention to detail.
Reese is also pursuing a degree in Business, expanding her expertise to better serve the firm and its clients. Her approachable demeanor and commitment to excellence make her a trusted resource for both the team and the families we serve.
Outside of work, Reese loves spending time with her family and is the proud dog mom to Kevin - Independent Wealth Management’s unofficial office mascot and client favorite.

Jordyn Reyes Marketing Coordinator
As Marketing Coordinator, Jordyn Reyes is the creative mind behind Independent Wealth Management’s outreach and engagement efforts. She helps bring the firm’s mission to life by building connections - whether through educational workshops, client appreciation events, or digital campaigns.
Jordyn oversees a variety of marketing strategies, from event planning and advertising to prospect follow-up and brand-building initiatives. She’s passionate about creating meaningful touchpoints that educate, inform, and strengthen relationships with both clients and the community.
In addition to managing campaigns, Jordyn mentors the Junior Marketing Coordinator and helps ensure that every detail - from the first point of contact to post-event follow-up - is handled thoughtfully and strategically.
Outside the office, Jordyn enjoys spending time with her growing family and friends, exploring new creative outlets, and finding opportunities to learn and grow both personally and professionally.

Kacie Ballard Office Administrator
As Office Administrator, Kacie Ballard is often the first friendly face clients see, and the person who makes sure every visit feels effortless and welcoming.
Kacie oversees the daily flow of the office, coordinating schedules, managing appointments, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. She ensures that every client interaction is handled with warmth and care, setting the tone for the trusted relationships that define the firm.
In addition to client hospitality, Kacie supports the team with data management, meeting preparation, and a range of administrative tasks that help the business operate efficiently and effectively.
A graduate of Northern Arizona University with a degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, Kacie brings curiosity, attention to detail, and a people-first mindset to her work. Outside the office, she loves spending time with her niece, Kali, and her three dogs - Dixie, Elvis, and Snoop. She also enjoys traveling, relaxing by the pool, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs - the team she was named after.

Skylar Mowery New Business Processor & Junior Marketing Coordinator
Skylar Mowery wears two hats at Independent Wealth Management. In her operations role, she assists with processing new accounts and preparing paperwork, helping ensure clients experience a smooth and stress-free onboarding process.
On the marketing side, Skylar works closely with the Director of Operations & the Marketing Coordinator to support campaigns, coordinate events, and follow up with prospects and attendees. Her strong organizational skills and dependable nature help keep projects moving and client communication seamless.
Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Skylar is passionate about expanding her knowledge and continuing to grow within the industry.
Originally from Wyoming, she brings creativity, warmth, and a client-first attitude to everything she does. Outside of work, Skylar enjoys baking, crafting, and spending time with loved ones and her Cane Corso "Nova" - and she never misses a chance to cheer for her favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers.

Her collaborative spirit and ability to adapt to new challenges make her an indispensable part of the team.
